Overview

Varanasi is one of the oldest living cities of Varanasi. It is likely to be called the religious capital of India. This city is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Mother Ganges. The Mother Ganges River is considered the most sacred river (in the Hindu religion) that ran through the sky. Mother Ganges is like an artery of the Indian culture, the people call her mother Ganges because the mother always takes care of her children. It is believed that these waters wash away sins and allow progression in life along with the river. A king "Bhagirth" was punished for several years to bring river from heaven to earth. It is said that this river washes away all the sins of life and death. That is why it is called "Mokshdayani Ganga". People come here for Salvation "Moksha", life cycle and death. Then there are more than 6000 temples, some are centenarians.
